A Day with Grandpa

A typical day with Grandpa means work! Even poor little Alex was put to work. But what fun when it is working with Grandpa!!!!

"I can dig more dirt than you, Grandpa!"

"This is my shovel Grandma, isn't it so cool?"

So focused!

Grandpa's Little Helper

Alex came to visit and was helping Grandpa with Nate and Heather's dogs.

Alex wouldn't get near the dogs unless Grandpa was holding him.

Alex wanted a ride. Giddyup Grandpa
Alex threw one ball and realized that the ball was a little slimy and gave the ball back to grandpa
Alex really liked the dogs when they were in the kennel

We are Women, Hear us Roar!

So Mom and I (Jess) are now Master Electricians!  We decided yesterday morning that we would change out the stone-age light fictures in my kitchen and dining room.  So after a very successful trip to Menards where we found some clearance pieces we got to work.  We had to wait until Alex went down for a nap so that we didn't ally get electricuted by a little boy who likes to flick light switches!!  3 calls to Dad and 4 hours later, my kitchen and dining room are transformed.  My neck is a little sore today, as is my foot where my son dropped my new home improvement how-to book on it, but we had a great time!

Ode to Grandmother/Mother

I'm starting to see the mother you use to be
When the fits being thrown, where thrown by me.
I cringed when my nephew threw that fit
For I heard those old familiar words
"Boy, you're gunna git it!"
I saw that look I use to see in your eye
The one I saw when I knew I would die!
But it's alright, I made it through.
And what do you know, he will too!
I saw a chance to make a joke.
So at my own mother, I took a poke.
Don't be to upset!
A judge of motherhood can be
A PERFECT child,
and just look at ME!!!
Love,
Your Son Nathan

Jenny made a cake and did a good job!

Dennis and Ruth let us have Heather's surprise birthday party at their house. We had a wonderful time, Justin and Erica came with their little girl and we had Alex with us. We played the movie game Matt taught us and that was a big hit. I hope you had a good time Heather we had fun planning it and I had a hard time not blowing it and saying something.

Helping Grandpa

Push hard--you can do it!!
Which tool do you want Grandpa?
Maybe you need the screwdriver

These tools are pretty neat!!

Alex came to visit for a while and we are having a great time. Alex is a bundle of energy and is keeping Grams busy. We love having him here.

Taking time to stop and smell the Black Eyed Susan

Grandpa showed Alex how to smell the flower and Alex said "ummm"
Ah, such a gentle touch for a 2 year old
I went to take a picture and Alex stood this close to me. Funny kid
